Capt. Nagarajan graduated from the T.S Rajendra in 1977. He completed his apprenticeship with the Scindia Steam Navigation Company and went on to become Master in 1989. Capt. Nagarajan has then sailed on a wide range of vessels including lift on lift off vessels, tankers, general cargo vessels, reefer vessels and bulk carriers.

Capt. Nagarajan joined Fleet Management 1997 and was the Global Head of Manning till 2002. From 2002 to 2004 he focused on the operation of bulk ships and dry cargo vessels. In 2004, he moved on to the Technical Division as Head of a Technical Group. From 2011 onwards, Capt. Nagarajan has taken over all responsibilities for Manning and Dry cargo Operations at Fleet Management.

In 2018, Capt. Nagarajan won the Sailor Today award for Exemplary Achievement ashore.
