Capt. Viraf Chichgar joined FMTI in 2012 has grown with the Institute, to become the Dean / Head of Institute. He took up the opportunity for Maritime Training, after sailing for 20 years , serving from Cadet to Master, with a single shipowner, where he served on various type of ships such as ULCCs, CHINAMAX, ICE CLASS VESSELS etc.

At FMTI, he has multiple roles not just as Head of Institute but also as founder member of the ECDIS Support Cell and member of the Navigation Committee. He was recently awarded an Award by The Maritime Trainer's Guild for Innovation in Contemporary Maritime Education and Training.
