To address the all-important issues of Navigational Safety during transition from paper charts to ECDIS, since August 2013, FMTI extends ECDIS support functions to our ships with ECDIS through a dedicated ECDIS Support Cell. The ECDIS concept is a total change from using paper charts, and the transition from paper charts to electronic charts poses a challenge for the industry, particularly for those who have no current experience of electronic charts. Team consisting of seven highly skilled and motivated Master Mariners involved in imparting training as well as providing active support to ships on ECDIS troubleshooting.
