Capt. Vinod Suryavanshi completed his pre-sea course from T. S. Chanakya in the year 1996. He joined a leading Indian shipping company and sailed throughout with the same operator until 2010. He has sailed on a variety of ships and gained experience in both dry and wet trade in senior positions. His last shipboard assignment was in 2013, when he sailed as Master on an oil tanker.

Working ashore he has 6 years of teaching experience at a leading maritime training institute. He is also an approved MMD external examiner for NWKO and Second Mates, Paper setter, moderator for Mumbai University, Chairman for the board of studies for BSc. Nautical Science Mumbai University and Examiner for BES (Board of Examinations for Seafarers Trust).

He joined FMTI in Nov 2016 as Training Superintendent and is a faculty in a variety of training courses conducted by the Institute and also looking after selection and placement of Indian cadets.
