Capt Viraf Chichgar joined FMTI in 2012 and currently serves as the Dean of the Institute.
With a seafaring career spanning 26 years, he had sailed on a wide range of vessels, including ULCCs and CHINAMAX. While in command, he received several International Ice Patrol Awards.
Capt Chichgar founded the ECDIS Support Cell at FMTI and is a member of the Navigation Committee. In 2021, he received the Maritime Trainer’s Guild award for demonstrating “Innovation in Contemporary Maritime Education and Training”.
Capt Chichgar holds a B.Sc. degree in Nautical Science from Mumbai University.
